How I wish I had clean hands, a passionate heart, and a cool head. But somehow these three qualities don’t seem to get along too well. The wolf, the goat, and the cabbage – what crazy ferryman would think of sticking them all in the same boat? And when he’d eaten the goat for starters, what wolf wouldn’t like to try the ferryman?

One is left with the horrible feeling now that war settles nothing; that to win a war is as disastrous as to lose one.

One of the great things about art therapy techniques is they are less about developing your visual acuity and more about developing your personal visual vocabulary.

“You’re confusing product with process. Most people, when they criticize, whether they like it or hate it, they’re talking about product. That’s not art, that’s the result of art. Art, to whatever degree we can get a handle on (I’m not sure that we really can) is a process. It begins in the heart and the mind with the eyes and hands.”

Jeff Melvoin, Northern Exposure, Fish Story, 1994…

Unless we get a glimpse of eternity, the arts will only take us to the edge, if not into the abyss… The arts have a capacity for capturing philosophy at an existencial level, where it is felt by the masses and, giving it artistic expression, not bound by the rigors of logic.

love, with a friendship chaser

dont forget the chaser

do you remember your first wheatgrass shot, all our massages, the ridiculous supermodel photographs you took of me while i drew a number poster for kids? waking up next to me when my “%$·/$&/%·”% alarm went off predawn? discussing scripture, failing to write a song together, discussing culture/morality, all the letters we’ve written each other? north dakota, austin, dallas, swing & blues dancing? walking miles & miles in search of a natural spring to bathe in, toy shops, paper  bag puppets, all the wonderful letters we’ve written each other? ministering together to the broken-hearted, ministering to each other? choreography, improv, my body mirroring your words, brian saying “i dont get it”? all the marvelous, incredible letters we’ve written each other?

i am conjoined to my memories of you. we could never be seperate. i carry you in my womb & cry you with my eyes.

but hey, at least we suck with high self esteem, b/c after all, no one’s as beautiful as me,

genme2 right?

Every book that is ever published, every article ever written and every speech delivered should have the subtitle “How to Be More Like Me.”

Thinking that people are all like me can only lead to disillusionment. Am I the center of the universe?

uh huh…not really

okay, so i tried drawing on shirts with these miraculous fabric crayons:

pero no resultaron bien…pues son pero viejísimos (jeje) y quizá por eso, pero después de planchar y todo para hacerles permanentes los dibujos los limpié y…¡perdí la mayoría de los dibujos! el que aparece a continuación resultó mejor que todos, y ya pueden ver como no brillan para nada los colores. dos días de trabajo y nada más me queda la única. chin.

lets just say they…well they didnt turn out well. you iron the drawings to make them stick, but most washed out anyways. the below t-shirt was the best, & see how light the colors are; thats one medeocre t for two two days work. dang.
